Each glass pendant is handmade (by me) in Ft. Collins, Colorado. All the glass pendants I make are borosilicate (pyrex). Each pendant starts out as long rods of clear glass. I then paint on layers of colored glass and use time honored techniques to achieve the desired result. Most of the colors are derived from semi-precious and very precious minerals and ore (silver and gold).
The lampworking station I use has a oxygen/propane torch and all glass I make is annealed in a 1055F kiln. The annealling process ensures that each piece of glass is tough.
All of my pendants have "focal" and 3-D qualities, meaning that I have puposely shaped the pendants in a way to magnify the painted backgrounds. Every glass pendant I make is unique and like any good sculpture, the pendant changes colors and content depending on what angle it is viewed at. Even the flattened backs of the glass pendants have been painted with colored glass to create varied effects like yin - yangs, spirals, flowers, seascapes, landscapes and abstract "trippy hippy" designs (my favorite). I have always made my LOOPS a little bigger to accomadate for different materials. I know that a lot of glass studios make their loops way too tiny to be useable. I have seen my work (made me very happy) on gold, silver, seashells and gemstone necklaces because of the loops. Some of my friends use glass pendants to add flair to pearl or other beaded necklaces and then they can command a better (sometimes 100%) price.
The prices on this site are waaaay cheaper than the stores that re-sale what I sell to them. And yes these are better than the FLAT glass pendants on ebay.
Some of the pictures do not do these beautiful glass pendants justice (colors are washed out). Rest assured that the colors are vibrant and defined.
